A pair of short-billed dowitchers wade in the mud near Shackleford Banks, NC.
These birds forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud. They mainly eat insects, mollusks, crustaceans and marine worms, but also eat some plant material.

Hello and welcome to my site. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed photographing the subjects in them.
