Looking west along Bogue Banks , the Town of Atlantic Beach can be seen in the distance. Fort Macon is seen on the eastern end of Bogue Banks. Bogue Banks form part of the outer banks along the coast of North Carolina. In 1928, a bridge was built, connecting Atlantic Beach to Morehead City.
