Artist's Description
Fort Macon State Park hosted its largest Civil War reenactment to date on April 22-23, 2016
as part of the celebration of the state parks system’s centennial anniversary. About 400 reenactors put on demonstrations for the visitors, including Civil War battle reenactments and canon firings. The Fort has five working replica 32-pounder cannons.
Fort Macon was constructed between 1826-34. During the War Between the States the fort was occupied by the Confederacy. The Siege of Fort Macon took place from March 23 to April 26, 1862 and ended with the Union regaining control of the fort.
About Dan Williams
Hello and welcome to my site. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed photographing the subjects in them. While many of my images are of waterfowl, you will also find other coastal subjects such as lighthouses, wild ponies, boats, sunrises and sunsets, and a variety of other subjects as I add to this site. I am a native of coastal North Carolina. Living on the Crystal Coast of our State affords many opportunities to photograph interesting and beautiful wildlife, as well as a variety of other unique subjects and features of this area. Please take time and enjoy the photographs. "Lookout Images" - photography by Daniel E. Williams.
