A red-breasted merganser takes flight from Taylors Creek, Beaufort NC. The Red-Breasted Merganser is a slim, crested, fish-eating duck, with a long thin red bill with serrated edges. It is commonly seen around jetties and piers along the coast and forages by diving and swimming underwater.
